The Fearlessness Charm is a psychomagic object. These are tailor-made artifacts for very special cases. They combine each time several components that cristalise some kind of symbol or emotional bond with the addressee of the charm.
PROBLEM
Marie-Odette has suffered for years from deep anxieties and inner demons that torment her and cripple her social life. She says she lacks connection with others. What stands between her and her aspiration is the phobia that seizes her in any interaction with strangers.
INSTRUCTIONS
Stefano,
Here is the protocol: do you remember the silver bracelet that Marie-Odette gave you in your childhood? That beautiful bracelet of silver wires, modeled after those that Kenyan ivory hunters brought home to their wives with their spoils? The one you keep carefully in your treasure box.
You will take a small glass jar and encircle it with that bracelet. Do not clean it under any circumstances: it must retain its black patina of aged silver—this is very important.
Next, you will ask Marie-Odette to bring you a Lourdes Virgin statue, the smallest she can find. The material doesn’t matter: what matters is that she loves it. And since it’s for you, there’s no need even to specify that. Once you have the statue, you will cover it in pure gold, then place it inside the jar.
Then you will visit Marie-Odette, or she will visit you—it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that you see her in person. On a day that suits you, you will begin to talk with her about everything that brings her joy. Speak with enthusiasm for at least half an hour.
Then continue for another half hour, recounting—what, I don’t know?—the Christmases spent on Île Sainte-Marie, your afternoons of reading in the bathroom while she dried her long hair, the sunsets in Rome while eating gelato, that famous time at the Cormorant Pond… whatever you like. I know your memory is vast.
But during this second half hour, you must draw closer to her, earn her trust, and embrace her. When you feel ready, in a soft, loving, joyful, hopeful, grateful, wondrous, and mysterious tone (each of these nuances must come through in your voice), whisper the following formula into her ear:
FORMULA
Marie-Odette, my sweet child,
Those for whom past and future are a present have heard your prayers.
Know that your son has been, since childhood, the vessel of a powerful fairy.
Through your little one’s vast memory, the fairy has seen, she has understood.
She bears witness to your suffering, to the demons that constrained you,
To the curses, the slanders, the injustices.
Many have said, “You crazy woman! You fabulist!”
But I know well, my dear child, that neither falsehood nor any vice has stained your soul.
Therefore, for all the love, kindness, and patience you have given,
Because, in the eye of the storm, your heart has proven its strength, worth, and steadfastness,
And because, after the ultimate trial, your love remained unshakable,
Even toward the one who hurt you most of all,
Then, to reward your extraordinary virtue,
I offer you this charm.
This jar, encircled by dark filaments, guards within it—adorned in glory and gold—
The statuette you found in Lourdes for your beloved son.
This object of mighty power will ensure that you will never again have to battle fear.
Place this object in your home, wherever you wish: as long as the nameless jar remains there,
No demon shall enter.
Carry it with you, in a bag or jacket,
And no harm will reach you, nor even announce itself.
Only be sure that Our Lady is always fully immersed in honey.
Thousand-flower honey.
Go, woman, and live your life lightly.
Original version
FINAL STEP
Once the formula is spoken, kiss her gently on the cheek. For the charm to take effect, say to her:
“Cover Our Lady in thousand-flower honey.”
Once the golden Virgin is plunged into this ambrosia, take a bit of that syrup and infuse it with laurel’s leaves.
Together, with Marie-Odette, drink the infusion.
This act seals the connection between those who drink the potion and the sacred object.
Once each of you has swallowed the first sip, the charm will be sealed forever.

REPORT
The enchantment process began on May 22 at 2:00 PM and concluded on May 23 around 9:00 PM in Rome.
Step 1: I spent the afternoon with Marie-Odette. I accompanied her to her ophthalmologist. Then we went to pick up books at a downtown bookstore. A stroll among the tide of tourists led us to a well-known gelateria—very disappointing.
Step 2: Back home, I thanked her for the lovely day and embraced her. I offered a tarot reading to answer her doubts. The session is detailed below.

Step 3: After the reading, I retrieved the Virgin from the jar, handed it to her, and read the fairy’s formula in a soft voice.
Step 4: Marie-Odette received the gift with great joy and surprise. I explained that it was a charm meant to banish demons. She poured in the thousand-flower honey, and we admired the object.

Step 5 (Unexpected): The apprentice sorcerer had not foreseen that the statue, made of wood, would float… Marie-Odette was disappointed, and I embarrassed.
Step 6: We cleaned the charm’s components and recovered the diluted honey to make a bay leaf infusion.

Step 7: We decided to fix the statue to the bottom of the bottle with white wax… brought directly from Lourdes!

Step 8: Ultimately, Marie-Odette preferred to keep her Virgin without honey. I told her that if she ever sensed hostile presences again, she only needed to pour honey over it to activate the protection.

Step 9: We drink together the tea made out of honey from the ritual and laurel leafs.
Step 10: The next day, Marie-Odette was delighted. She placed the Virgin on her little altar, between a portrait of Padre Pio and a crucifix.
